Baking sourdough bread in your home is perfectly achievable with a bit of guidance and practice. I started at home myself and have never looked back.

A hands-on baking day in the Hackney Bread Kitchen micro-bakery, covering all the stages of making and baking sourdough bread, we’ll bake three different kinds of sourdough, learn about maintaining your sourdough starter, kneading and shaping techniques, and explore the wonder that is long-fermented breads.

Participants are limited to three people so lots of chances for questions and help.

The price includes lunch and a bread-making kit to take home.

NB Participants will be taking an unbaked loaf home with you to bake the next day.

Italian flat bread with a sourdough twist adds extra flavour to this dough. Made with half organic ‘OO’ flour from Italy and British flour with a touch of spelt for colour and olive oil. Great for dinner tables or just tear bits off as you’re passing! (Check weekly for changes in toppings). 22×15 cm.
